Welcome to BKN Sixth Form

The BKN Consortium is a unique and exciting place to learn and work. The Consortium - consisting of Kingsmead Technology College, Blake Valley Technology College and Norton Canes High School - has been established for over 20 years.

The BKN Sixth Form community has developed considerably over the years and offers the stimulus of academic excellence, coupled with the security of a familiar social environment. All three schools bring their own specific strengths to the consortium so students benefit from joint approaches to academic, social, moral and team building activities. The consortium also plays an active role within the Chase Collegiate sixth form provision.

Teaching groups may contain students from one, two or all three schools and are co-taught by specialist staff from each institution. Students receive free of charge coach transport between the three schools. Great emphasis is placed upon the guidance of students on to the wide range of courses on offer, which lead to valuable qualifications such as AS/A2, Applied VCE, BTEC and Diplomas as appropriate to the needs of the individual student.

Students form relationships with staff that have more in common with the student/tutor model within Higher Education establishments than the pupil/teacher experience found in secondary school. A team of highly qualified and experienced staff, committed to the value of the Sixth Form, offer excellent tuition within a curriculum that is extensive, courses that are demanding and a learning atmosphere that is exciting. In addition students have access to a wide variety of enrichment activities from the three schools. We look forward to working with you as you embark on this exciting stage of your education.
